Afghan bomber accidentally blows up militants

A would-be suicide bomber accidentally blew himself up, killing six other militants as he was bidding them farewell to leave for his intended target, the Interior Ministry said.

Taliban gets support from Pakistan

Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan receive direct support from the “S” wing of Pakistan’s main intelligence agency, according to a report published on Thursday.  American officials, quoted by The New York Times, said that members of Pakistan’s Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were helping the Taliban with money, military supplies and strategic planning.

Royal Marines give Taliban a bloody nose

ROYAL Marines have smashed the most important Taliban stronghold yet in a ferocious three-day assault.

They killed 130 enemy in the daring raid on bases in the opium-swamped Marjah region of Helmand.

Six-hundred commandos fought to the limit of their endurance — sleeping just two hours a night — to avenge the deaths of 32 comrades during their six-month tour.

Civilian deaths in Afghanistan

A roadside bomb has ripped through a van carrying civilians on a road used by foreign troops in eastern Afghanistan, killing 10 and wounding six, officials said.

Meanwhile in the south, three Australian soldiers were wounded in another blast.
